Vintage Saint Catherine Laboure Religious Medal Signed Penin
This antique patron saint medal depicts St Catherine Labouré on the front, the reverse shows her vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the vision Virgin Mary asked her to have a medal struck in her name. We know this medal today as the Miraculous Medal. Goldsmith Adrien Vachette created the first one. This medal was created by Penin and is signed by him (see bottom -right- front.). I adore the softly worn depiction of Catherine Labouré and the script surrounding her, it's beautiful.
